Frequently Asked Questions
Sayre is a non-profit, faith-based Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC). As such, the community offers a continuum of care ranging from Independent Living, through Assisted Living to a Healthcare Center providing skilled nursing in a long-term care setting.
In addition to the services mentioned above, Sayre has two unique specialties:
- The Reflection of Life Community – providing care for older adults with Alzheimer’s disease or related dementias in an environment based on the Best Friends Approach.
- Comfort Care Suites – a place where families can gather to be with a loved one who is nearing end of life.
Costs in the Healthcare Center are covered in various ways: Medicare/Medicaid, private insurance, private pay, and generous contributions from supporters help with unreimbursed costs that are not covered above.
Rents in Independent Living (HUD subsidized) are dependent on a person’s income – rent cannot exceed 30% of adjusted income.
Rents in Assisted Living are paid privately or by long-term care insurance.
The Healthcare Center requires a doctor’s order for admission. In addition, the Center must have an available bed and be able to meet the needs of the prospective resident.
The Independent Living (HUD Subsidized) buildings require a resident to be age 62 or mobility impaired and have an income not exceeding 50% of the median income for the Lexington-Fayette County MSA (includes the counties of Bourbon, Clark, Fayette, Jessamine, Scott and Woodford).
The Assisted Living requirement is that the resident be ambulatory, or mobile non-ambulatory (may use assistive devices) and not be a danger (to oneself or others).
No, Sayre Christian Village welcomes anyone, regardless of their religious affiliation, who needs our services.
There is NO WAITING LIST at Friendship Towers Assisted & Independent Living in the Heritage Wings, Expansion or in the Memory Care Community.
For Baunta & Forest View Apartments, it is best to make application as soon as you determine the need or desire to move to one of our apartments. For Independent Living apartments (HUD subsidized) you must be age 62 or mobility impaired. Waiting times vary.
Many times a request for admission is accommodated either immediately or within a few days. However, there are often occasions when it may take weeks for an appropriate placement. Each request is based on the specific needs of the prospective resident and Sayre’s ability to meet those needs.
Assisted Living rent includes all-day-dining, all utilities except telephone, weekly housekeeping, scheduled transportation and activities programming. Additional Assisted Living services are selected on an a la carte basis and are priced individually.
For Assisted Living Memory Care Community, all Assisted Living Services are included in monthly rent.
