Campus Growth Projects
Enhancing Our Community, One Project at a Time
Sayre Christian Village has been serving older adults in the Bluegrass for over 40 years, and the growth and renovation projects in progress now will futureproof our campus for older adults for the next 40 years!
Baunta Renovation Project
A Vision for the Future of Sayre Christian Village
The Need
The Baunta Apartments, our original building, has been a cornerstone of our mission, offering affordable housing for seniors, fellowship, and faith. However, to meet the evolving needs of our residents we must revitalize this historic space. Through the Baunta Refresh Project, we’re updating the entire building to ensure our Villagers have the comfortable, beautiful environment they deserve. This is more than a renovation—it’s a renewal of hope, a tribute to the legacies of those who shaped our community, and a commitment to serving those who call it home.
The Goal
Renovation Highlights
- Upgrade apartment units with modern amenities
- New HVAC system
- New Roofing
- New Laundry Facilities
- More to come!
We are thrilled to announce that we have secured major funding for this project.
The development is primarily being financed through the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program, specifically the 4% credit, along with the issuance of tax-exempt bonds by the Kentucky Housing Corporation (KHC). Sayre Christian Village will also receive support from the City of Lexington’s Affordable Housing Fund.
While this foundational funding allows us to move forward with confidence, we continue to raise funds to enhance the project and ensure the highest quality environment for our residents. Additional support will help us respond to needs that arise during construction, invest in thoughtful design and amenities, and strengthen the long-term sustainability of the community.
Your support will directly impact the lives of our residents, ensuring the comfort, dignity, and care they deserve.

Lexington's Most Awarded Senior Living Community
For more than 40 years, Sayre Christian Village has been the trusted choice for senior living in Lexington, Kentucky. Our single campus offers a full range of senior care - independent living, senior apartments, assisted living, skilled memory care, and skilled nursing - along with short-term rehab and respite care. We are the only nonprofit continuing care retirement community in Fayette County and the largest skilled nursing community in the county. Our residents have voted us Lexington's favorite retirement community for 9 years running, and our Life Enrichment Department is the most awarded in the city. The recognition we have received - from Caring.com, GreatNonprofits, the Herald-Leader, Smiley Pete's, and Candid - reflects a consistent standard of care our team has built over four decades.
