Carolyn Helt Colliver has spent the last 32 years humbly serving the residents of the Sayre Christian Village Healthcare Center. She was inducted into the Sayre Christian Village Hall of Honored Servants in 2015 for her meritorious service and for the enhancement in the daily lives of so many of our residents.
In the fall of 2015, Carolyn received the Volunteer of the Year Award at the LeadingAge Kentucky Conference. Her husband, Don, also volunteered at the Healthcare Center and it was an activity they enjoyed doing together.
How it All Began
Colliver says, “My volunteer experience with Sayre Christian Village first began in February of 1985. It was an ordinary Wednesday, but it was a single day that has made a lasting and positive impact upon my entire life.”
Carolyn proudly says that the residents and staff at Sayre Christian Assisted Living have filled her heart with joy and have embraced her as a family member in difficult times.
“My love and admiration for Sayre Christian Village led my mother, brother-in-law, and an aunt to become residents of the nursing home, and the level of care and compassion they received further underlined my love for the campus,” says Carolyn.
Volunteering is Vital
Carolyn encourages individuals to share in the joy of volunteering. Furthermore, Carolyn believes volunteering doesn’t require extensive work or skills, but rather a high level of compassion and a genuine love for people.
Sayre Christian Village has been giving award-winning service to seniors in the Bluegrass for over 35 years. Without volunteers, we wouldn’t be able to fulfill our mission. Volunteer at Sayre. It is a rewarding experience for both you and our residents!
