Bill Meck Honored with Kindness Award in Lexington

A Morning of Service in Lexington, Kentucky

Community leaders, ministry professionals, and nonprofit partners gathered in Lexington this week for a meaningful morning centered on service and compassion.
At its annual Ministry Appreciation Breakfast, Sayre Christian Village welcomed more than 100 guests from across central Kentucky to recognize individuals and organizations making a lasting impact in their communities.

Recognizing Leadership Rooted in Kindness

The highlight of the event was the presentation of the Wayne B. Smith “Leading with Kindness” Award—an honor that reflects a legacy of compassion, generosity, and service.
This year, the award was presented to Bill Meck of LEX 18 and longtime radio personality Jack Pattie.
Both honorees are widely recognized not only for their careers in media but also for their deep commitment to the community and ongoing support of local initiatives.
Sayre Christian Village does terrific work in the community here, and their ministry continues to grow, and I’m just honored and humbled to be a part of it today,” Meck said.

Why This Recognition Matters

According to CEO Karen Venis, selecting this year’s recipients was a natural choice.

Their impact extends far beyond their professions—touching lives through consistent service, advocacy, and a shared dedication to strengthening the Lexington community. Events like this highlight the importance of nonprofit leadership in Kentucky and the power of collaboration.

Honoring Those Behind the Mission

In addition to individual honorees, the breakfast also recognized organizations that play a vital role in supporting the mission of Sayre Christian Village:

The King’s Daughters and Sons Foundation of Kentucky
Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels

Their continued contributions help expand services and outreach efforts throughout the region.
