Image---Services----H-and-AL---Aff.-HUD---Baunta--Apartments---center---BauntaBaunta Apartments provides retirement housing for independent older adults or for mobility impaired persons who require an apartment with “accessible” features. The building is classified by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) as Section 202 (Elderly) with Section 8 Assistance. As such, rents are subsidized by HUD based on household income.

To be eligible:

  • At least one member of the household must be at least age 62, or be mobility impaired (persons may be under age 62 if mobility impaired.)
  • Income must not exceed 50% of the median income for the Lexington, KY MSA
Tenant Rent

After eligibility has been established, income is adjusted by deducting approved anticipated medical expenses and other deductions. Rent is based on 30% of adjusted income.

For the convenience of tenants or the convenience of family members, we offer automatic bank withdrawals of tenant rent and services payments.

Included in the rent is heating, cooling, water and trash removal. Baunta residents are responsible for personal electricity, cable TV and telephone.

Occupancy standards for Baunta Apartments are set forth as follows:

One Bedroom Unit: No more than two persons in the household
Two Bedroom Unit: At least two persons, but no more than four persons.

Pets are permitted – some restrictions apply.

Apartment Details

The apartments at Baunta Apartments are designed for older adults who wish to furnish with favorite items from their homes. They are spacious, designed to accommodate many types of personal furnishings.

Included in the apartment is a full kitchen with a range and refrigerator for those who wish to prepare meals at their discretion. Blinds, cable and telephone hookups and sufficient electrical outlets are available to meet every need. For resident and family peace of mind, each bathroom is equipped with a new, state-of-the art “pull cord” to be used to summon staff help in the event of an emergency. An additional pendant is made available which serves to summon staff if the emergency arises away from the bathroom – even in the common areas of the building.

All units have individual controls for heating and air conditioning. Each apartment has its own lock on the apartment door which insures privacy, but is keyed so that emergency responders may enter.

There are no “visiting hours” – friends and family are welcome anytime – after all, they are visiting in your home!
