Sayre Healthcare Center (a 130-bed Skilled Nursing Facility) has an outstanding reputation as a provider of long-term care. In addition to its traditional long term care services, a recent $12 million expansion of the facility now provides orthopedic surgery patients a preferred option to traditional rehabilitation services, plus state of the art “small house” care for patients with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.
Assisted Living Facilities in Kentucky are certified to provide housing and services for senior adults. Services may include Activities of Daily Living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, eating, transferring and toileting. They may also provide Assistance with self-administration of medications. Certified assisted living facilities may not provide health services such as medication administration or nursing services. To be eligible to reside in Assisted Living the resident must be ambulatory or mobile non-ambulatory (move about with an assistive device, but without help from another person) and not be a danger (to oneself or others).
A resident who needs none of the above services may reside in a Certified Assisted Living Facility, but is considered independent.
Affordable independent living is designed for senior adults to live comfortably in an affordable setting. Eligibility for these living units is based on age and income. One must (with few exceptions) be age 62 and their income must not be greater than 50% of the median income for the Lexington Fair Market Rent Area.
